Born in Seoul, raised in the midwest USA, and educated in New York City and Paris, JI WON CHOI’s work revolves around using design to connect cultures while promoting positive change.
Graduating from Parsons School of Design with a BFA in fashion design, she presented her thesis collection, EXCESSIVISM, at the Parsons Benefit in May 2017. The collection was the winner of Kering Empowering Imagination Award, winner of Yoogygen Award by Yoox, finalist of Eyes on Talent Award, CFDA Fashion Future Graduate, and finalist of Parsons Creative Systems Award. Her work has been displayed at the Bergdorf Goodman window in New York and at New York Textile Month. In September 2017, she was awarded the “Ones to Watch” Award by Fashion Scout and presented her collection at London Fashion Week. In April 2018, her exclusive capsule collection for Yoox was launched. Selected as one of series 6 designers, she presented her next collection XENOMANIA at New York Fashion Week in September 2018 in partnership with the CFDA and LIFEWTR. With the partnership with the CFDA, she designed a water bottle that is sold nationwide. In October, she was selected as one of the international designers to showcase her collection at GTBank’s Fashion Weekend in Lagos, Nigeria, an event promoting enterprise and small businesses in Africa. In February 2019, she presented a collection in collaboration with adidas Originals at London Fashion Week. The collection was launched in adidas stores worldwide and online, KITH, Net-A-Porter, Urban Outfitters, ASOS, which sold out to rave reviews. The collection has been seen on figures such as Beyoncé, Kendall Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian, Karlie Kloss, and more.
